Hi-Tec Men's Altitude IV Hiking Boot Reviews
These have been great boots. I am on my fourth pair of the Altitude series- a version I, version II, and now 2 version IVs. All have been good buys for me. The version IV have been the best but all have been good.
First, I have a high arch and have always been hard on any footwear with a tendency to walk on the 'outside' of my foot. I wear these boots to travel in and work in while traveling. Many a mile in airports, many miles on concrete, gravel, dirt, and inside simulation facilities. When I travel I tend to only take these boots - my work rarely requires dress clothes, the boots look good in an open collar work environment, they are comfortable, and taking only 1 pair of shoes does cuts down on packing requirements quite a bit for longer trips (3 weeks or longer in duration).
I have taken these boots on three overseas trips - they did well in the Scottish highlands (twice), and London. They did equally well on the beaches of Hawaii, Myrtle Beach, and Cancun. They have done me well in wet and sand - hot and cold.
To add to this endorsement, not only am I hard on shoes I am also quite fat these days - topping 300 pounds. For my health I maintain a walking routine of 1-3 miles a day whenever possible. When I travel, these boots are also my walking shoes.
In general Hi Tec have always fit me well. I go back 40 or so years to wearing the Lite series of Hi Tecs while I was in my running the Appalachians days. Given my high arches, a tendency for very bad calluses, rebuilt right ankle, 2 knees that varied doctors have wanted to cut on since early Army days, and now my weight I am very picky on shoes. These are the best of the Hi Tec boot types that I have found.
I suspect I have seen the best of my current set of boots - maybe six more months or so of regular wear till they become yard work shoes till their final demise. I have never worn out the uppers in these boots. I have worn the sole down to a smooth surface and worn out the insides (after using new insole inserts a couple of times). They are tough boots.
And I have a back up pair ready to take the place of the current set.
On a down side, these style of boots (in general, not just Hi Tec) are not sturdy enough for doing squats in Power Lifting circles. One needs a higher and stiffer boot than what the modern ilk of hikers provides. This is the only limitation I have found for these boots.
I purchased these boots at a very good price, but I still have problems with hot spots when I hike. These boots are warm and they appear to be well-padded. They also offer very good support. However, after about 5 miles of hiking, I continue to have some hot spots. I have a slightly higher than normal in-step, so if I tighten the laces, I get a hot spot on the top of my foot. I have also had hot spots on the bone on the high side of my ankle. I always wear good hiking socks, but this doesn't seem to help. A neoprene ankle protector has helped the most, but this makes my foot feel constricted after four or five miles. If you're going to do serious hiking,either allow a significant time for breakin, with short walks to be sure you have addressed any problems, or consider a higher quality boot.

I purchased these hiking boots for work. I am a paramedic and am required to wear black shoes/boots that can be polished. I am an advid boy scouter and enjoy hiking boots. Initially I was concerned about my online purchase since this was the only black hiking boot I found that I could polish. My concerns were quickly abolished after receiving this product. They are comfortable, fit perfect and work great on all surfaces. Following my first 12 hour shift wearing these boots, I did not notice any aches or pains from breaking them in. It was like I have worn them for months. I have recommended these boot for other medics in our communtiy and would recommend these to anyone in the EMS field. Extremely comfortable, waterproof, works well on all terrains and surfaces, cleans up great. Best pair of work boots I have purchased in my 16 years in the EMS field.
These are my favorite functional boots (boots I use outdoors - not party boots).
I do lots of hunting, fishing, camping, etc and these boots are great.
They're comfortable, heavy duty, have held up great, and have great traction.
I highly recommend them.

If you just want a cheap shoe and won't actually be hiking this might do the trick. I purchased these last minutes before going hiking in Snowdonia, what a mistake! The main problem is absolutely no strength/stablity to the sole of the shoe, after about 2 hours into my hike I was feeling every rock I had to walk across. Save your feet, spend a bit more and avoid these shoes.
i jumped up to a boulder, maybe a foot high. Landedon a big sharp pebble which cut into my boot and cut my foot. very hard soles and confusign to lace. how a boot is confusing to lace really suprised me.

I brought three pairs of this boot for my wife and my two daughters for hiking in the Grand Canyon. They loved them, and they served their intended purpose well. The boot is light weight, but certainly not flimsy, requires little breaking in, and as with other Hi-Tec products, is an exellent value. Highly recommended.
I am very happy with these shoes. Very well made and durable. I am using them for hiking and so far have been great. I can recomend these for people that need a nice, comfortable and well priced outside hiking boots.

These Nevados Women's boomerang II mid high hiker boots are very comfortable. I didn't think that they would be as comfortable as they are. I have even done my daily walk in them a couple of times and they almost feel like I have sneakers on. Haven't used them for actual hiking but I'm sure they will be just fine. This shoe walks me! I guess that means that most other shoes fight the natural ergonomics of human stride, heel to toe! It is impressive! But beware, Merrell shoes run SMALL! I wear 9 1/2 to 10. This shoe fits me at 11 1/2! I have a very similar Merrell low top hiking shoe; but it is size 11! So for mail order, MAKE SURE RETURN IS FREE! Otherwise you will have to pay as I did to return for correct size. This shoe came as an Amazon purchase from ShoeMall! ShoeMall said I was not their customer so they do not pay for return shipping. Amazon paid what ShoeMall would pay = .00, but the cost with FedEx was .80 to return. OK! I love the shoe.
I'm primarily a "day hiker", but do some strenuous and rough trail hikes.
I have hiked in Columbia and North Face, they were okay, BUT, when I
purchased these Merrell's, WOW.! They didnt even need any "break-in".
Light weight, comfortable, breathable. I also wear hiking socks.
I have put alot of miles on them, and up/down lots of elevation, and
proud to say No Blisters or Hot Spots. I have recommended these and
the low-cut version to others, and the consesus is "They love 'em, too."
SO, put on a pair of hiking socks and slip into these boots and GO HIKE.!

I am so happy with these boots. They are just enough for
Winter, for me, and they fit fantastic. I don't have this experience often because I have to use inserts. These boots are true to size and very comfortable.
These boots were awesome right out the box. I expected there to be some uncomfortable time during the first week of wearing them, but there was none. They fit great and the amount of lacing from toe to ankle made it great for adjusting it to your exact foot shape (or days when you wear thicker socks in the cold). I especially enjoyed the zipper on the sides for easy removal at the end of the day when you really don't feel like unlacing. 
They were also very comfortable when hiking and climbing mountains. I had next to no blistering after 40 miles of climbing in 3 days. The super-soft, thick padding around the ankles was heavenly.
The only drawback: they are not waterproof! Any water rising above the laces will enter the shoe. Too bad. Just use them for dry hiking.

My husband's hard-to-fit wide foot finds this hiking boot to be comfortable and supportive during and after several all-day hikes on rough, rocky trails. Works well for his high arches, long toes and wide feet. Supportive without being hard to break in, plus they look good for casual winter use. Minor point: the Velcro side closing wore out after the first few days so he cut them off. The size zipper is still helpful so you don't have to re-tie laces each time they go on and off. Overall, he is very happy with the boots (though they're not heavily built, so may not last many years)for hard-to-fit feet.
I ordered these as a working boot in Iraq. They are easy-on easy-off and seem to be holding up very well so far. The price was great and they arrived quickly. Really haven't found anything I Don't like about them yet. They do run just a bit large but I just laced them up tighter and they fit fine. Great shoes for what I do!

This baby took me 550 miles across Northern Spain this march. I got ONE blister the entire time. The rest of the group were sitting down every night for the rite of blister-popping, while these boots kept my feet incredibly comfortable. Break them in before you go, but they'll last you. After a trek that would have killed most boots mine are still fine. Buy these boots if you're on the Camino, buy something like Asolos if you're a masochist.
I liked the looks of this boot out of the box. I wore the boots around the house for a couple of times, then went for a walk. By the time I was a half mile from home I was having trouble with the right boot in the heel area. By the time I turned around and arrived back home I had worn the hide off both feet above the heel with blood on my sock on the right foot. I don't think I ever had a worse experience with a boot. As you draw up the laces it feels like there is something behind the heel area much like a fish line cutting into your skin.

Columbia Sportswear Men's Coremic Ridge Mid Hiking Boot Reviews
Ordered this boot for one of our employees that has a hard time finding a more narrow and good fitting boot for his large foot of size 12. I wear a 10 in womens so I am familiar with the way shoes run in larger sizes and have several Columbia shoes and sandals and loved the way they fit. I was "right-on" in ordering these for him..he loves them and they fit great. No worry on getting sores from breaking in a pair of shoes. These fit like a glove and have great padding when walking or climbing. Would highly recommend them and the Columbia brand of shoes & boots.
